| Samir Modi, lives with
his dream that there is no force in the power
of this earth that can stop an idea whose time
has come.
A dream that was born as a legacy- the legacy
of being the product of a new generation of India.
A generation that never saw the struggle for independence
yet understood that there was a new world that
they would compete and live in. This world would
respect no boundaries, speak all languages and
respect only the religion of power.
Born to the famous
industrialist family, Samir was working in the
U.S. after graduation training to take over the
reins of his family empire. During all his tenure,
one factor struck Samir. Indians ran every
industry across the world. Whether it was Silicon
Valley or Wall Street, Indians were at the top.
The success of Indians worldwide amazed him. And
yet
throughout his schooling years, and on his several social
welfare trips, he had seen the crude contradictions of
this success. While they were attaining success worldwide,
Indians were languishing in their own country.
He wondered, what was it that created this
divide? The answer was obvious….opportunity!
And from that day on, Samir
who was then only 25 years old, went to work. He
began to understand that the only way forward; to
be truly competitive as a nation was to adopt an
aggressive posture. If at all Indians could
replicate their success in India
as they had done globally, it would have to be
through economic self-determination.
The road would be long and hard, but with his
determination, the support of his visionary father
and a dedicated band of team members, the conception
of a dream had begun.
Realizing that there was
expertise required to empower him and his team to
face the challenges forward, Samir hired the best
talent worldwide. Boston Consulting Group laid the
framework, Andersen Consulting began to engineer
the processes, and
the Umezawa group of Japan established the product
research, selection and launch processes. The
Board of Directors headed by Samir’s father,
K.K. Modi, an accomplished marketer himself, comprised
of the nations top professionals and executives.
It is true that there is
no force on earth that can stop an idea whose time
has come. On the 30th of March 1996 Modicare
was born.
Today there are thousands of Indians who live
this dream. Having decided to take their future
in their hands and to lead their country well
and truly into the next century, they are the
products of an India that is pacing forward to
assert its own identity. An India that stands
up to show the world that we are second to none,
silent yet competitive, capable of achieving success
in any sphere, any country and any domain.
Today they have traversed the boundaries and
borders that have always confined them. Liberated
by the power of their dreams, the wisdom to follow
them and the vision of a man who believed in the
beauty of their dreams. |
